Hello, My Great Grandmother Delia E. Murray arrived to The USA from either County Cork Or County Claire Ireland in 1887. Does anyone know where I would begin to look for record of her arrival. I have checked Castle Garden and Ellis Island records. I cannot find any records of Delia that match her stated date of arrival. Delia's Father was John Murray (Murry)and her Mother was Elizabeth Egan(Eighan)She was born approx 1869 in Ireland. She married in the US But I cannot find the record. She lived most of her life in the US from 1900-1929 in Nebraska. Can someone tell me how the Irish arrived to the USA if they did not come through Ellis or Castle Garden? Thank You Toni Bytoni55@cs.com |

My grandfather was born in Muckno, Castleblayney about 1855's. As there was not a registry required then,(it didn't come in to 1864), I am having trouble finding him even though I has looked at the Church Records. Found some of his brothers and his sister there but not him. He died in 1931. I have his death certificate. If anyone hows anything about him, I would be greatful. His name was WILLIAM HAMILTON ARMSTRONG. |

I am looking for info on Mary Ellen Sharpe married to John McCollum of Scotland.....Mary is said to be from Northern Ireland, Orange Section. They had at least 4 children, all of which I believe were born in Michigan USA. They are James (b 1865), Mary Ellen, John and Agnes. I believe that John and Agnes died young of TB. I believe that John was born in Scotland in Jun of 1845 but am not sure. My family line is down through James McCollum whose 2nd marriage was to Daisy Mae Brown. James was also known as Diamond Jim and Silks. He is said to have been a bit of a brawler and sang/danced in taverns for a living at some point. I would LOVE any information that anyone might have about this family, especially the Sharpe side. It is said that the Sharpe family owned a castle and that at one time the Michigan newspapers advertised for the heirs.

P.S. Would love any information on the Halliday family also. My husband descends from Thomas Halliday b in Leeds, York, England about 1945 husband of Mary Ann Allen of Gosforth, Northlumberland, England. |
