I am trying to find the birth name of my Grandfather. according to the 1901 census he was born in Middlesbrough, Yorkshire in 1876 and was an actor with a travelling company. His father was an anglican minister. For some reason he was disowned by the family and took the name of Walter Bishop. He was married in that name and my father was christened in the name of Bishop. 'Walter Bishop died in about 1910 and my grandmother remarried. This has been a forty year search for me so if anyone recognises the story, I would be very interested to hear from you.

I am trying to find the connection between the Hall and Pearson families from the Humberside area in the East Riding of Yorkshire. John Hall's wife died in 1799 and he remarried. one of his grandchildren was named Pearson Hall and there were other Hall children later on who were given the first name of Pearson. I am assuming that John Hall's second wife was a Miss Pearson. Any help would be appreciated.

Hi I've hit a brick wall! My mother was a twin born at 95 Great Western Road Gloucester 25/01/29 to Gwilym Davies & Bridget Sullivan. I can't find any records of their births, marriages or deaths. My mother was placed in a convent when she was small (about 3 I think)possibly in Hereford. Her twin died of Scarlet Fever & as far as I can gather so did her mother. She left the convent at 18 & went to London where she married my father in 1953. On the marriage certificate it says her father was deceased but this could be because she had no contact since the convent. How would I find out where she was placed & if she has any relatives still living. She once mentioned she had a brother called William & at least 1 half sister from a previous marriage of her father, I have no dates or places for them. My mother died in 1991 so I am unable to ask her anything & as she didn't know what happened to anyone from her family when she was alive this is proving a very difficult search. Any help or information would be gratefully received. Thanks

Looking for information about a Cambridge theatre or CLUB. An ancestor was musician (Trumpet player) living in Cambridge in 1901. Frederick John Duke was born in 1872-3, and after marriage lived in Cambridge until he died at the age of 84. It is believed he played at the NEW THEATRE in Cambridge, and at clubs also. Does anyone have knowledge of this theatre, or clubs where a 'band' would play. Thanks for any help given.June 19, 2006.
