i am trying to help someone search for an old friend of theirs. Her name is Joyce Hardy nee Fuller & she is looking for Ivy Brown, maiden name Shaw. She lives somewhere fairly close to Stockport railway station & she will be approx 76/77 years old. Joyce & Ivy worked together at Appleby Frodingham steel works at 32inch mill in approx 1947/1948. Her parents lived in either Winteringham or Winterton. Her husband was in the army when they got married approx 1946/47. Joyce last saw Ivy in 1949 in Stockport when she had a few days holiday with her, Joyce had a son called Anthony at the time & Ivy had a daughter. They both knew a chap called Stan Gelder who worked on the cranes. Joyce was living in Scunthorpe back then but now lives in Taunton Somerset. Between 1943 & 1948 Ivy lived with her aunty near St John's church in Scunthorpe. If anyone can help please e-mail me Penny on tgarrettuk@yahoo.co.uk
