I have today read your request on Lookup.com with regards to John Pitt.
I believe that I may be of some help!
My father was John Pitt, born 1928 and his father was James Pitt born approx. 1893.
James married Mary Hill in 1921 and on their marriage certificate was a witness called Gertrude Pitt.
My fathers family all come from the Birmingham area.
I wonder if John Pitt could have been my grandfathers, brother.
