Am posting this message on behalf of my dad, Roger King, who was fostered in Bedford, UK, in the late 1940s/early 1950s. He was fostered from the age of 4-9, before returning home to London. He stayed in about 4 different places during this time, all in Bedford. He has fond memories of one lady in particular, a miss Thornton, an elderly spinster, whom he first stayed with. When she died, he and the other children she fostered all got sent on to new foster parents. He would love to be able to find out what happened to the other children, and whether they remember much about her. Apparently, she was well known in the community, attended church regularly and lived in a house with a large garden, where she held fetes, etc... We have only one picture of her, sat in the garden surrounded by about five children (including my dad) and a couple of goats. If anybody has any info at all it would really appreciated! Many thanks!
Ruth King
