Hello Everyone,
May I please beg your indulgence and help in trying to trace my Family Tree. My name is CYRIL JOHN BROOKS. I was born in Guernsey on 27 Feb 1947. My birth was registered in St Peterport on 31 May 1947. My fathers name is WILLIAM (Bill) JOHN BROOKS, born 19 Jan 1919 in Exeter, Devon, UK. My mothers names was VIOLET MAY BROOKS (nee) HAMON. I think She was born about August 1917 in the Channel Islands (probably Guernsey). I am told mum had 2 sisters, Olive and Elise, and 2 brothers, one named Fred or Frederick. My mother met my father when he was stationed in Guernsey during the war (before the Occupation). She left Guernsey before the Occupation and went to work in Watford Hospital. She also apparently worked in Stockport. Mum and Dad were married on 3 Sep 1941 at Burnley Register Office. One witnesses was E Churchill (my father thinks this may be mum's sister, then married. Mum and Dad had 3 children Linda. Doreen Ann, and me. After the war they reurned to Guernsey and my father went to work for Lovells, Smith St, St Peter Port. Not long after I was born both mum and I became seriously ill and were both taken to the Hospital in St Peterport. One evening my father was called to the Hospital and told that neither mum nor I would survive the night. I am afraid that mum did die that night. From what I have been told mum was probably buried in Foulon Cemetary. I am desperate to visit my mothers grave and to discover the family history and would ask anyone who may know anything about this Hamon family to contact me, especially relatives. Forgive me if this enquiry is long winded but I obviously needed to give as much detail as possible.
Thank you for your patience
Cyril Brooks
