Austin/Kok - am seeking information about my birthmother AVIS MURIEL AUSTIN born 24.10.1908. I was born on 26.10.44 at St Bartholomew's Hospital, London, and named Cecile Vivienne. I was adopted by Christina and Edwin John Smart in Nottingham in 1946. My birthmother ws married to a Chinese man 1936 after the birth of their son PAUL ADRIAN KOK. Two years after my birth she had another illegitimate child, a girl, GILLIAN CARA, who died aged two weeks in 1946. My birthmother seems to have come from the Ashford-Canterbury area in Kent and worked at the psychiatric hospital (then lunatic asylum) in Chartham. Her mother's maiden name was LIZZIE DALE, her father was GEORGE FREDERICK AUSTIN. She also had a brother EUSTACE AUSTIN. All my attempts at searching have been in vain - perhaps someone out there can help me? I should think it's too late to find my birthmother, but my half-Chinese half-brother may be locatable.
