In search of Carol Ann Goff (Adopted to Carter)
My mother gave birth to a girl in Coventry in late, probably August, 1942. She was born as carol Ann Goff. her fathers name was Henry Franklyn Goff, who we now know to be deceased. Her mother, ( my mother) was named Betty Goff at the time and her maiden name was Brown. The name Betty Brown is listed on the birth certificate.
Carol Ann was adopted out to a couple by the name of Robert and Bella Carter of Liverpool around 1945 when Carol Ann was aged approx 2 1/2 years. We have recently found out that the Carters were said to have at some time moved to Runcorn Chesire, but we don't know when.
My mother is still alive but not in the best of health, to this day she still mentions Carol Ann and would love to know what became of her. She wants Carol Ann to know it was NOT a lack of love which forced the adoption, but a set of circumstances at the time. It was heartbreaking and still is.
Please if Carol Ann reads this, or anyone knows of her whereabouts or that of the Carters, PLEASE get in touch. I want to be able to give my mother some info on Carol Ann before she passes away. She's now 81 and not in the best of physical health, but as sharp as a tack mentally.
Carol Ann, I've never met you or even seen you, but you ARE my sister. Many times I've thought of you and wondered what you look like. I would love to know you, we share an unbreakable bond.
