I recently placed a message but the information given led to a dead end. I was adopted in 1952 born to Dorothy May Short living at 54 Newport Road, Countess Wear, Exeter, Devon my father was Ronald Steer of 8 Higher Shapter Street, Topsham, Devon. They did not marry. Dorothy was 16 at the time of my birth and decided to have me adopted as her mother suffered with rheumotoid arthritus and was a semi-invalid and would not have been able to have helped her with a young baby. My pre-adoption name was Angela Maud Short my adopted parents then re-named me Gillian Maureen Ponsford, they lived at Exmouth.
I would be most grateful for any information which may lead to me finding my real parents. I would like to thank all who have emailed me so far and am only sorry that the Dorothy in Ottery St Mary does not seem to be the right person.
I have very limited information about my adoption as in 1952 they gave out very little at all. If anyone knows of the above mentioned or thinks they may be related to me in anyway please get in touch. It is like the final piece of a puzzle is missing and you never really know quite who you are.
