I am looking on behalf of my husband Will Opere for his three half brothers or sisters. Two were adopted as babies.His mother's maiden name was Sarah (Sadie) McCool her first husband's second name was West. Sadie moved from Belfast to live in Somerset and had her first child with Mr West in about 1937, she was named Margaret and may have had a limp. Sadie moved to Hackney in about 1940 on her own, and became engaged to a man named Jim, but he left her. The information that we have from Will's half sister Pauline is that a baby was born in July or August 1943 in Hackney. Pauline was about two years old and can remember this. Will was born in 1952 and is the youngest. The adoptions may have been through the Salvation Army at Romford County Court, or carried out privately. The babies may have been born at Old Church Hospital, Romford. Sadie stayed with a family in Carter Drive, Romford after the births.If you have any information that could help my husband and his sister find the rest of their family I would be very grateful.
