I am looking for my half brother who was adopted. His birth name is JAMES MALCOLM TODD and was borh on the 24th of November 1944 at the Grange, Wrecclesham, England.
Our mother stated her name on the birth certificate as Margaret McNorran McKinnon Todd of no occupation of 4 Lynord Terrace, Redding Road, Fleet Harts, UK. There was not listed his father and the birth certificate also states that my mother was not married. Unfortunately, due to some lies and mistakes on the birth certificate, my half brother can not ever find us. My mother was married at the time and the name TODD (surname) was her married name. Also the McNorran name is wrong - it should be McMorran. She also did not live at Reading Road at the time. It is believed that the registration occured by letter and not a formal birth notification, and the details were deliberately altered to cover my mothers identity.
I have James Malcolm Todd's birth certificate in hand. I have tried many different ways of searching for my half brother - including social security number, visiting his birth place, checking with the local churches for christening or other records, including some of the local court houses (that were bombed and all the records destroyed) without success. I have also gone through the adoptions records and ordered every adopted name of James as the first name - also without success. The cost of ordering more adoption records is just so difficult and is only guesses at what his name could be - I really do not know where to go next in the search. I hope that he is looking at this internet site and recognises his name. Any helpful suggestions would be appreciated.
