Regarding the adoption bill:

I live in the USA, I did however write to the MP representing the area of London in which I was raised, I believe the content of my letter made my views apparent to him.

When discusssing this bill with friends and family who live in UK, I was amazed to find out that none of them knew what pre=1975 changes the government has in mind for all birth parents and adoptees.

Perhaps, if all UK contributors to this message board would write to their local newspaper they might alert the readers who could then tell the do-gooders in Westminster, to take the rights of we adoptees and birth mothers forward NOT backward.

A few months ago I read an article in the New York Times. It was written by an attorney, herself an aunt of a uk adoptee who has reunited with her birth mother. The author makes it clear the privacy laws were never for the benefit of the adoptee and birth mother, though they would have you believe they are, they were and are for the benefit of the adopters. Perhaps it is the "clout" of the adopters which is behind this bill!!

I know when I reluctantly gave up my child I never said I did not want her to ever know who I was, in fact all these long years I have waited, like most here, in vain for that call that has yet to come.

It is time for those who care about the rights of ALL members of the triad, to make their voices heard loudly and clearly
