PAYNE/PAINE
I am searching for the Payne/Paine family [ancestors and/or descendants]of Great Addington, NTH, ENG. 1813. I know that Joseph Payne/Paine [c1762-1839] widower (possibly from Thrapston, NTH, ENG) married Jane Rowe [c1784-1850] on 29th March, 1813. Their children were: Joseph bn c1813; Benjamin bn c1815; Ann c1821-1841; James bn & d 1823; William bn & d 1823; James c1825-1888 m 1848 Harriet Beeby c1831-1897; Eliza c1827-1829. Either surname PAINE/PAYNE appears to have been used at this time, some of the children having both versions in various official records. Some of the family were still in Great Addington in 1914 as David Payne was the landlord of the "Hare and Hounds" in 1914 and he was buried there in 1943.
