THORNTON...THORNTON...THORNTON...
I am looking for descendants and ancestors of Samuel THORNTON who was reported to be born in 1770 at Barnsley, WRY, Yorkshire. He married (no records so far) to Sarah MADDEN/THORN in early 1800. They had two kids in England before Sarah was convicted and transported to Australia in 1814. Samuel followed in the same year as a free settler.
Their kids are as followed (recorded):
1. Sarah (1810-1890); Samuel (1814-1838); Margaret (1816-?) m. William TUCKER; George (1820-1901) m. Mary Ann SOLOMON; Mary Ann (1823-?) m. John ECCLESTON; Edward (1825-1870).
There was supposed to be a child that was left behind when Sarah was transported to Australia, its gender, name and dates are still unknown.
So far I've been to Barnsley FHS online, nothing there about THORNTON family. According to a family lore, Sameul's father was also called Samuel who was a woollen manufacturer.
Any tips, help or tiny information would be greatly appreciated!
