Rev. Charles E. Medcalf Sebastopol, Ca USA May 20, 2000
Looking for decendents of Medcalf's living at 5 Bradford St. (Butcher Shop) Bocking, Essex from late 1700's(?) until mid
1860-1870's. William and Lucy Medcalf, parents of Catherine (1787), James (1790) Isaac (1791) Charlotte (1798) Eliza (1799) John GGGrandfather(1801) married to Sohphia Brown (1807) parents of Arthur Brown Medcalf GGrandfather (1828) Emily Marie (1830) Lucy Ann (1833), Frederick Charles (1834), Osward Harvey (1837), Clara Ann (1841) and Walter William (1841) GGrandfather Arthur Brown Medcalf(1828) moved to Redding, Bershire where he died in 1900. Grandfather William Arthur Medcalf, born 1852 moved to the NY-NJ area in 1860, probably with parents Arthur Brown Medcalf and Mary Ann Eleanor Medcalf (nee Crack) and sister Minia. Mary Ann died in Redding, Berks. in 1867. It is not clear whether William Arthur Medcalf was with them (about 15 years old then)I did not find trace of him until the 1880 NJ census when I found him married to my Grandmother, Cornelia Weeks
(1852) My father Charles Lyndhurst Medcalf was the only son of William's to have children, Sister Audrey and Myself Charles Edward Medcalf. I have no namesakes, but have two daughters. I have been unable to find relatives on the Essex 1881 census and only Arthur Brown Medcalf on the Berkshire census. Any help would be most appreciated.
Cheers: Charles.
