Can anyone help?! I am trying to find my husband's grandfather's relatives. He was in the UK military in Germany in 1946. In or around Hamburg and/or Uetersen.
That's where he met my husband's grandmother, who was Finnish. Her name was Rauha Korkala. They got engaged and spent 6 months together. He was supposed to return to the UK in September or October that year (1946), and she was going with him. But, he died in a car accident before that (probably in August or September), on his way to Hamburg. Rauha was pregnant with my husband's father, who was born in Uetersen,Germany in April 1947.
He could have been with the RAF, or maybe the army.
Can you help? Maybe you served in Germany at that time? Maybe you know someone who did? Were you in the RAF during WWII? If so, then maybe you can help me identify his uniform and tell me if it really is an RAF one.
