My great grandfather,James Travis was born at Smallshaw a sub district of ashton-u-lyne on June 5,1825. He was the son of Henry Travis and Ann Travis nee Ogden. He married Rose Ann Morton,of Miles Platting,at Collegiate Church of Manchester on June 27,1847.He lived on Moss Street, Ashton.Hw had two Children, William H.Travis born 1848 and RachelAnn born 1854 at Cambridge Place ,Ashton. ON May 17,1870 he immigrated to Boston, Massachusetts. He settled in Fall River, Massachusetts, one of the largest cotton centers in the United States. He had many cousins living in Ashton. One cousin died at the Union Work House,Ashton in 1891. would like any info on this family.
