My grandmother was a Hankinson from South Carolina. I am researching her family, and we have discovered that the first Hankinson entering the US was a Jane or Jean Hankinson, with two sons, landed at Perth Amboy, NJ in 1680.
She was an indentured servant, and I understand that prior to her departure, the local government in Bristol was responsible for all of the indentured servant immigrations.
I cannot locate her on any ship passengers lists I have had access to, and am hoping that there would be documentation dating from the 1680's of the people who were transported to the US.
Would someone be able to tell me where I might locate any records or indices of these immigrants?
