I am looking for information on my great and g.g. grandfathers, both named John HOUGH. John Jr. was 20 when he married my great grandmother, Frances ellen sykes at Handsworth Woodhouse, near sheffield on 25Dec1885. This would put his year of birth as 1865. I believe he is buried in Revell Lane cemetery, Sheffield, having died on 21Oct1899. According to their marriage certificate his father was also named John.
On the 1881 census for Brightside, Nr. Sheffield there is a Hough family listed who I believe are my ancestors. It lists John Hough, age 49, born Leeds (cannot find any record of this) his wife Mary, age 49 and their three children, John Jr. age 16 (my g.grandfather ?) Martha age 13, Fanny, age 10 and Harry age 6. Again I can find no record for any of these people. does anyone have any connections with or knowledge of this family ?
