Does anybody have any information on the Pardoe Matthews family please? My earliest knowledge of the family is that they lived in the village of Ambrosden in Oxfordshire in the 1740's. James Matthews married a Martha Piercy in October 1770. He(James) was registered as the son of James Matthews of Barnett in Gloucestershire. However, in spite of long attempts, I have been unable to find any record of the town or village of Barnett If anyone can be of further help I would be very grateful.
I would also like to know how the names of Pardoe and Matthews originally came to be linked. Many thanks John P.Matthews
