I'm looking for info on my great grandfather on my father's side of the family. He is THOMAS STEVENS. He was born in about 1870 and lived in THAMES DITTON near London. His father was, I think, head gardener at Hampton Court Palace. Thomas worked as a blacksmith but in his early 20's developed TB. He'd married by this time (can't remember her name!) and had one daughter, DULCIE KITTY, who was my paternal grandmother. When his illness prevented him from working he took up water colour painting. He did have a noble patron but I can't remember her name either! His work might have been displayed in London and he might have been granted the title R.A. He also was used by other artists to paint their skies - apparently he was particularly good at cloud scenes and misty landscapes. He also seemed to hsve been quite prolific even though he died in his mid twenties of T.B. circa 1894. He seems to have been buried in the local Thames Ditton Anglican churchyard but I couldn't find a headstone to this effect. His wife remarried and his daughter Dulcie married a WALTER FREDERICK FLORIDA JAMES from Newport, South Wales and she moved back there with him. They lived at 52 Barrack Hill. My father was the 2nd eldest child. Oldest - Jack, then Cledwyn, then Brenda, then twins Lawrence and Thelma (died as a todler) and lastly Ivyn. would love to have any info at all about him and also to check if the info I've got thus far is correct!
