**CAROLINE PILBEAM**
Born 4 January 1896 at 18 Edwin Place, Brighton, County of Sussex, England. Her mother was Eliza Pilbeam nee Dorrington. Her father was John Pilbeam.
This woman was my grandmother but never knew her. She arrived in New Zealand in about 1920. Family rumour says she was pregnant with my father when she got here and had her passage paid. Why else would she come out here on her own. I would like to know more and in particular what date she left England.
