I am searching for any information about my grandmother, Alice Smith b.23/07/1893 and her sister Florence b.1891 from Bristol, England. As far as I know the two girls were orphaned and were sent to Canada in 1898 as "home children". The two girls arrived in the port of Saint John, New Brunswick and were fostered out to two separate families.My grandmother, Alice lived with the Breen family on Saint James St., while her sister was adopted by a family on Mount Pleasant Avenue and eventually moved to the United States with her new family never to be seen or heard of by her sister again.Any records of the two girls were destroyed in a fire of the distributing house in Saint John. I am hoping to find any information about either sister and their living relatives in England.
