attention belgian surfers.seeking news of my father,rene joseph louis van der beken.he married my mother ruth edna philipps at holborn london on 25th feb 1919.
attention belgian surfers. i am seeking news of my father
rene joseph van der beken.he married my mother,ruth edna
philipps in holborn,london on 25th feb 1919.at the time he
was a private in the belgian army medical corps and was
formerly from assche(?)in belgium.his father,leon felix van
der beken,whose occupation was given as builder is also
listed on the marriage certificate.i was born on 22 feb 1920
and christened francis felix joseph grismond van der beken,
nd my fathers occupation given as coffee makers assistant at that
time,so he'd left military service and settled into civilian
life in london.have no memory of ever having seen my dad,so
assume my parents had split up shortly after my birth,but i
can recall at about 3 years of age when divorce proceedings
were in progress,being bundled across to a neighbours house
because my father was visiting and for reasons unbeknown to
me,my mother did not want any contact between us.
