SIR ROGER BANNISTER
This is a message for Dennis Bannister, or anyone else with an interest in Sir Roger Bannister. I tried emailing Dennis direct but it bounced. Dennis said, about 18 months ago: ------------- I was told by my father that Sir Roger Bannister was his 2nd cousin. I'm looking for any link between mt Grandfather, Samuel Bannister of Trenton, NJ in the US and any relatives in the UK. Please help if you can. I don't know my Granfather's parents names yet. I'm waiting for information in the mail. ---------------- I wondered if he had had made any progress with it. I guess we all want to have a famous family connection and my father told me many years ago that he was related to a Harry Bannister of Trawden, Lancashire, who was in turn related to Sir Roger. I believe Sir Roger's father was called Ralph Bannister and also came from the village called Trawden in Lancashire England, which is right next door to the town of Colne where I was born. Unfortunately I have been unable so far to find the connection between Harry Bannister and my father although I believe their grandmothers, nee GILL, were sisters. A Fred Bannister, who I think was brother to Ralph, wrote a book called "The Annals of Trawden Forest" which gives a good insight into that part of the World. I have quite a bit of information about the Bannisters in Trawden if you want it and would be grateful for anything you may have to throw light on the matter. Kind regards Peter Cox
