McDonald/MacDonald -
I am trying to find information about my gg grandfather and g grandfather. John MacDonald was born in Scotland and immigrated to Canada in the 1800's. John owned "MacDonald Island" and donated other land to the church and hospital in Ft. McMurray, Alberta, Canada. He had many sons, of which 3 are named Henry, Harry and George (my g grandfather). I can't find anything on George, I don't know if he was born in Scotland or Canada. My mother believes he was born around 1890. My mother was told he was in the war, but not which one. He married Sophie Cardinal in Alberta, Canada and died between Feb. and Nov.1932. My mother, Mabel MacDonald was born November 11, 1932 in Fort McKay, Alberta, Canada. Harry lived in Alberta, Canada as well. I'm not sure how many children he had but one is named Freddie and is still alive in Ft. Chipewayan, Alberta, Canada. Does any of this family history sound familiar to anyone? My mother is 69 yrs. old and I would like to help her find her paternal ancestors before time runs out. Any help/info would be greatly appreciated.
