WILSON - My Wilsons were connected with Wilsontown, brothers Robert, John and William established the Ironworks in the late 1790s. One of John's sons, James, was my great-great-great-grandfather. While knowing that he married Catherine Boak and had thirteen children, I have not been able to find their marriage date, nor can I find birth and death records. Finding that they belonged to the Free Presbyterian Church of Scotland I am wondering if these records are held elsewhere, or would they have been recorded? The christening records of most of the children show the place of christening as Kirnewton, East Calder, some I have found on the IGI. My great-great-grandfather was Dr. Thomas Braidwood Wilson who married Jane Thompson in St. Oswald's Church, Durham in 1826. He was a Ships Surgeon in the convict fleet and made nine voyages to Australia where he came with his family to settle in 1836, his 9th voyage on the STRATHFIELDSAYE. Any information re other members of this Wilson family or their descendants would be gratefully received as I need the verification of the marriage, birth and death of the parents, James and Catherine. I have been told her name was Boak/Boag/Bogg but on the Death certificate of son Robert, Catherine Boak was given, also Robert had named one of his daughters as Catherine Boak Wilson. Robert died in Greenock, he had succeeded Rev. William Wilson in the Nicholson Street Church, Greenock. Hoping someone can help me.
