I am seeking the true identity of my wifes great grand father Robert Walker(or Robert wallace) born in either Greenock or Stevenston Scotland c 1830-1832,he kept changing his surname and even registered some of his family at birth as Wallace and the others as Walker, i have a feeling he could have been adopted, he was a master mariner ,lived in South Melbourne Victoria Australia, died there in 1919, some of his family took on the hyphenated surname of Wallace-Walker, yet there is never any Wallace mentioned on any documents like marriage or death certificates, the only parents ever listed are John Walker (stonemason)and Mary Ann Bowen. In the Mormons IGI I have found a christening in c 1831 which could be his . Thanks for listening
