Seeking roots of my maternal grandfather, John James McDonald. On his 1905 marriage certificate gave age as 22, place of birth as Scotland, and parents' names as Thomas and Julia McDonald. He worked his entire life at the Fore River Shipyard in Quincy, Mass., so it is possible he came from an area in Scotland with a shipbuilding tradition.
