JOSEPH FALCONER AND HELEN GILMOUR,i am researching my ancestors and have come up against a brick wall with the above pair,my ggg grandparents, i can track them to the 1851 census in 1856 they had a son thomas falconer who in the 1880's married a fanny mckay who in turn had a son neil mckay falconer, who married a margaret fleming platt, neil was killed in ww1, his wife and 3 children then came out to new zealand, the eldest son being thomas gilmour falconer this is my father. as you can see we have all the information up to Joseph falconer but can go no further, our oral history states that joseph went out to south africa and died out there, we cannot confirm this, also can not find a dead cert. for helen gilmour as far as we know thomas remained in the area of glasgow then going to shettleston. all that we know of joseph is that his occupation was a masonjourneyman.if anyone can help it would be appreciated.when thomas was married to fanny the marriage cert stated that joseph was dead helen a widow.
