Researching family lines connected to THOMAS McCALMONT circa early 1700s, born in Scotland, died in Ireland. Father of Alexander McCAMANT also spelled McCAMMANT, who married MARY BLACK and came to Philadelphia around 1720. Settled in Lancaster County PA on land purchased from the Penn family in 1733, there he helped found Pequea Presbyterian Church. Name said to have been changed due to political/religious problems. I have been told Thomas was a Covenenter minister. Also said to have royal Stuart connections. (I have photo copy of Alexander's will, also have been to the old farm in Lancaster Co.).
