Grandfather, known to us as William Bain Mitchell born 1 April 1873, Huntly, Aberdeen, Scotland. Located census of 1881 shows his name as William Mitchell Bain, son of Eliza Bain; no father's name. Also, Birth Certificate provides same info; is this a common occurrence or was he born to a single mother? He left Scotland in the late 1890s and arrived in Mexico where he served in various capacities with the Bank of London and Mexico. Left Mexico in 1914 due to revolution and nationalization of all foreign assets; traveled to Canada where he stayed until approx. 1930 when he came to USA where he passed away in 1939. I am trying to find any information. Other names listed in 1881 census were McRobb; Ritchie and Geddes.
