Hi, Searching for parentage of Charles and Maria McDonald. Charles born about 1744, Isle of Skye, emigrated to South Carolina 1765. Charles told more than one of his children that the "celebrated" Flora MacDonald was their aunt. The parents of Flora's husband Allan seem too old to have been the parents of Charles. They are not listed as children of Marion and Hugh MacDonald (Flora's mother and stepfather) in any material I have been able to find, but could possibly have been. Flora did not have any siblings who could have been Charles' parent except possibly her brother Angus. If you can shed any light, please help. Several people of several generations of my family have attempted to solve this. Margie McDonald
