MCDOUGALL, Hector. I am trying to trace my grandmother's father who was b. c1803 and was married to Agnes Campbell b.c1814 in Glasgow 10th May 1835. I believe that he and his wife went to Coll and had a store there before emigrating to Australia. I am assuming the following had something to do with the family of Mcdougalls, as these items were among the Mcdougall papers. I have some letters written by a Malcolm Grier to his cousin, my uncle William Brake dated 1903 on headed paper of a firm J & D Hamilton, oil merchants & refiners, paints, colours, varnishes est 1844. Cable address Milton Glasgow and the workls Sydney Street. Their trade mark was a shield with H in top left corner and G in bottom right with a banner diagonally across with CLYDE on it. Another letter advising that the writer had resigned from Wm. Harvie & Co.Ltd having been secretary and a director, after 30 years, to become a member of Telford, Grier & Mackay Ltd.,, Clydeside engineering works were at 220-222 Broomielaw. This letter is date June 1904 and was written by Thomas Grier, who I assume was the above Malcolm's father. Any help from the listers would be greatfully appreciated. John H. Brake Frankston.Vic.
