I am trying to find the birth date of William SHEARER born 1848-9. Mother Mary Shearer born Stonehouse 23.5.1828. The birth record may show William with the surname RANKIN. It appears that he was illegitimate and the 1851 census for 17 Newtown Str.records a 2 year old,William Rankin, living in the family home with mother Mary.
