MARK ROBERT THOMPSON SOUTH SHIELDS, TYNE & WEAR UK Aug 12, 2001
I WOULD VERY MUCH LIKE TO CORRESPOND WITH ANCESTORS, OF MY GREAT-UNCLE, A GEORGE GRANT (MARINER) BORN: Wick,1885, HE MARRIED MY GREAT-AUNT, ETHEL ISABELLA THOMPSON, 25-12-1911, AT ST.JUDES' CHURCH, IN SOUTH SHIELDS, I AM TOLD, HE PASSED AWAY c1930, AND I'M ALSO TOLD, HE WISHED TO BE BURIED IN HIS HOME TOWN, Wick, AS THIS IS THE CASE, I RECALL MY LATE FATHERS' COUSIN, TELLING ME, SHE HAD SEEN HER FATHERS' GRAVE, IN THE CHURCHYARD, IN WICK, SHE TOLD ME, HE WAS BURIED ALONGSIDE HIS ANCESTORS', WHO WERE ALSO MARINERS' LIKE HE WAS. AS THIS IS THE CASE, I WOULD VERY MUCH APPRECIATE CONTACT, WITH ANY OF GEORGE GRANTS' DESCENDANTS, AS THIS WOULD HELP ME, TO FILL IN SOME EIGHT YEARS, OF NOT KNOWING WHERE, HE IS BURIED, OR HOW OLD HE WAS, WHEN HE DIED. I DO NOT EVEN KNOW IF HE WERE BURIED IN THE CATHOLIC FAITH, AS MY GREAT-AUNT, WAS A PROTESTANT. I SHOULD MENTION, HIS FIRST BORN SON: George Thompson Grant=B:30-3-1912, South Shields, Died: 25-9-1991 Newcastle-upon-Tyne, he was buried in: St.Andrews Cemetry, Jesmond-Newcastle-upon-Tyne. IF ANYONE CAN HELP ME, I WOULD VERY GRATEFUL, PLEASE CONTACT ME AT: pt002a4878@blueyonder.co.uk Thank You
