Seeking Nancy McIntyre, born 1824. She died in Neshoba Co., Mississippi, USA, in 1896.
According to famiy lore, she was born in Scotland, but that belief may be because she was a native speaker of the Scots Gaelic. (There were Gaelic-speaking communities in North Carolina and in Mississippi at the time, so she could have learned Gaelic as her mother tongue in the USA.)
Nancy McIntyre turned up Neshoba Co., MS, in the household of an elderly uncle, Archibald McIntyre, in 1830, at age six.
No one knows what became of her parents, or how she got to Neshoba Co., Mississippi, or where she lived before.
Others in that household were a Malcolm McIntyre (later became the first sheriff of Neshoba Co., MS) and a John McIntyre.
