in searching for my mothers family (lougheed) we have come up against a blank wall after James lougheed arrived in Canada in approx 1830, prior to that it is a complete mystery. that is why we take it seriously when we came across the suggestion that there was a connection between the boyds and lougheeds. It has been suggested that the lougheeds fled scotland when they backed the wrong side of one of their wars and changed their name. Any info to this subject would be greatly appreciated.
