I ordered a marriage certificate from England and found that my Mary Ann
Davidson (who m. my William Docker) had a father named William Davidson,
just like I guessed by the names of her children. Now what do I do to find
his wife (which would be Mary Ann's mother's name)? I do know that Mary Ann
was b July l8, 1839 in Scotland somewhere and that she died in America on
July 23, 1875. Could you give me some suggestions as to how I might find
out her mother's name?
It appears I am now looking for a marriage certificate for William Davidson
b ca l800-09 and a wife that might be named Mary, Margaret, Agnes, Annie,
Florence, or Fanny, in that order, possibly. William's mother was
ELIZABETH, and that is the name of their first daughter, so their next
daughter, MARY, might be named after Mary Ann or her mother -- probably Mary
Ann herself. In that case William Davidson's wife's name might be Margaret
or Agnes.
