I am trying to discover the birth of Helen Walker, dau of John Walker & Elizabeth Law of Glascow circa 1806. Siblings were Archibald, William, Mgt.& James. She arrived in Australia per "India" Feb. 1840 with Thomas Walker [brother?], James, Mgt. & John [presumably her father as it follows through that he lived with her dying at her place in 1857 - he then left her his property. She married Donald Cameron in Australia circa 1842. Her daughter Margaret m. Jabez Wood in Adelaide and they have many ancestors in most Aust. states. Helen died in 1865. Shipping shows a Mary Jamieson Walker aged about six was on the India also and in her Will Helen left estate to her "my daughter Mary Jamieson Walker" also sometimes Cameron who m Samuel Webster here.Was this an illegitamate child?
Also need to find birth of John Craigie who left Scotland from "Perthshire" - as noted on his mge. cert. in about 1831 landing at Albany, West Australia. He went away and "came back on the James Pattison" in 1834. He was a baker, and Publican in Albany W.A.leaving there in 1846 for Adelaide where he was the Manager of his father-in-law's property at the River Murray, South Australia. He married Mgt. Walker when he was 34 yrs old and she was abt 22 in 1842. Two children born Albany, Mary [d in 1865] Jane m John Russell in Adelaide 1863 & d 1886. [they were my gr grandparents].
John Craigie born at sea, [obv. on way to Adel. diff. ship 1847] d. un/m Qld 1892 and James C. m. wid.2 girls? when 49 yrs. Qld d. 1912. Also help with Russell family? Robert father, Janet [McDonald] mother, ch: Robert, Wlm. George [?]Janet, and John arr. Adelaide circa 1839-184O's from Stonehouse Lanark.lived Glenelg, Robe, Stepney, South Australia. Any info. much appreciated
