SURNAMES: WINTER, WILLIS, MC NALLY
Hello. I am trying to research the ancestors of my husband. I know that his great great grandmother was Martha Winter. She lived at Thames Ditton Parish in the county of Surrey England before her marriage. She married Henry Willis in 1869. We have the marriage certificate. I am wanting to know who Martha's mother was (her father was Henry Winter).
Henry Willis, b1848?, was the son of William Willis and Catherine (Mc Nally. Possibly Irish?) I believe he might have had a sister named Emma b1846 and maybe a sister named Fanny or Francis born 1862. Fanny is remember by my grandmother in law as an Aunt Fanny but I am not sure who she was the daughter of. They, the Willis children, were probably all born in Mortlake Surrey England. Henry died in 1899 at the age of 51 and William, his father died 6 months later. Francis moved to Canada and at the age of 46 married Napolean Peter Gregory on 27 Jan. 1908. Emma I have no info about.
Catherine Mc Nally we know nothing about either. She may have been of Irish descent. Don't even know when her and William married or how many children they had. Do know that they lived in Mortlake during their marriage.
If any of this sounds familiar please contact me. I would love to get even the tiniest bit of info about any of them. Or if you know someone who might be researching the same names I would love to hear from them too.
I would greatly appreciate any advice on how to research our UK ancestors from abroad.
Thankyou all for you time.
Sincerely, Brianne Broughton bronskie@canada.com
