I am searching for the roots of my great grandfather, James Carmichael. Born 1835, 1838 or 1840 in Elderslie, Renfrewshire or in Dunbartonshire. He travelled to New Zealand in 1861 from Scotland. In New Zealand he worked as a driver for Cobb & Co. A very able drive, which would lead one to suspect he drove a coach prior to his arrival. In 1863 he married Elizabeth Milne in Dunedin,New Zealand. Is there anyone who may be connected, please contact me. Regards, Dawn.
