GIDEON MILLER AND ISABELLA SCOTT, BEWCASTLE CUMBERLAND ENGLAND
Am looking for birth place and parents of Gideon Miller born about 1749 and Isabella Scott born abt 1752. They married in 1782 and lived at Bewcastle Cumberland until Gideon died in 1822 and Isabella in 1837.
Word of moouth has it that Isabella Scott comes from a younger branch of the Dukes of Buccleuch but I suspect it is from the Scotts of Buccleuch. She may have been born in or around Cumberland or in the Selkirkshire/Roxburgh areas. We have no idea where Gideon came from. He married firstly a Magdalene Routledge in 1772 in Bewcastle and was at that time a Cooper. Magdalene died in 1881 and Gideon married Isabella in 1882 and they had 7 children.

We know that Francis Miller who married Mary Kerr emigrated to the USA in the late 1800s.
We wonder if son John's son - also John who married Jane Armstrong and had three children Mary, Joseph and Margaret, also emigrated somewhere as they disappear from Steppings, Bewcastle, Cumberland after the 1851 census.
If anyone knows anything about any of the above, would be very grateful to hear from you.
