Looking for information on my grandfather's family in Wales. My grandfather Thomas Monroe Davies cane to the US and was the only one of the family that came over and stayed that we know of. The information that follows comes from oldletters and the 1881 census of Wales. According to letters he had a sister Elizabeth, brothres Jack, Richard, John and Llewelyn. The letters talk of a uncle Richard Wathins who had sons Richard and William (Billy). I thank I have found both familes in the 1881 census, county of Glamorganshire. Richard Watkins is listed as 37 yrs old, wife Emma 31 yrs old and sons Richard 5 and William 2. I find down the page Eliz Davies 18 as head of household and brother John age 17, William 16, Thomas 12 and Llewelyn 8. No parents listed for this family. Eliz was born in Pentyrch, John in Eglwysilian, William in Llantwit Vadre, Thomas in Porthcawl Bridgend and Llewelyn in Pentyrch parish. Later Elizabeth married Ephium Baughman and in 1926 they lived at 40 Parish Rd, Tynant, Llantwit Vadre. Also in a letter date 1926 Eliz says says Llewelyn has retired from the police force and is living in Pembrokeshire and that uncle Richard died two years ago. We don't know when Thomas came to the United States or how, have not been able to find anything on this. Eliz makes a statement in the letter dated 1926 that he has been gone for 33 years so this put him leaving home about 1893 and he married my grandmother in 1903 so we have 10 years in between that we know nothing as to his whereabouts. Any information concerning any of these children or the parents of this family would be greatly appreciated.
