I am trying to research my grandfathers (Tegwyn John NEWELL) family, unfortunately both he and grandma have died and we have limited informaiton. I have his birth certificate which states that he was born 20 June 1918, 32 Church Street Abertillery Monmouth Wales. His mother (Mary DAVIES b 20 Oct 1879) migrated to Aust. when my grandfather was 7 on SS Moreton Bay arriving on 16 Oct 1925). His father (William Llewellyn NEWELL b 10 Jan 1868) was listed as Coal Hewer and apparently died from a mining accident. Mother and children (number unknown, min. 2) were seperated after the accident, but re-united and migrated after Williams death.
I have kno info other than that listed and have been hitting brick walls for months. Your help will be greatly appreciated. (Grandad didn't like his name and was kown as John or Jack).
