FESTINIOG- JANE DANU ROBERTS/JONES.I am trying to solve the mystery of my Grandmothers parentage but I am not having much luck so far. My Grandmother was born in April 1892 in Llan Festiniog,Merioneth, North Wales, her name at birth was Jane Danu, Roberts or Jones (probably Jones) her mother was Elizabeth Roberts/Jones who was apparently married to a David Jones, they lived in Bridge Cottage Cwmbowydd Road in Festiniog and David Jones has some connection with the Abbey Arms hotel in Ffestiniog. Elizabeth Jones died in November 1895 at the age of 29 and my grandmother then aged 3 was brought up by another member of her family, probably a grandmother. David Jones appears to have disappeared at this time. I have no real details about my grandmothers family except that she is supposed to have had a half sister named Georgina.
My Grandmother left Wales and eventually settled in Surrey, she married Arthur Nelson and they produced fourteen children. If anyone has any information on my grandmothers family I and her 100+ descendants would be really pleased to hear from you.
