I am tracing my Grandmothers family. The surname was Mathias and they lived in St Davids Pembroke. My gran had 12 brothers and sisters. They were all named as follows---Ann, Tom, Joe, Sarah, Goer, Dan, Phoebe, Jim, Luther, Lucy, John, Mary and my Grandmothers name was Martha and their surnames were MATHIAS.Their parents were David Mathias and Phoebe Mathias nee Williams. They were married in 1870 in St Davids Pembrokeshire. They lived in various addresses around St Davids, and the last known address was Lower Moors cottages. Not an end cottage. In the 1881 census they were listed at TREHYSPYS, St Davids. One of my Grans sisters who I think was Phoebe lived on a farm which I think was Treledydd fawr, lost her Son in a shotgun accident. One of the brothers, who I remember faintly as I was a very small child, lived in a small cottage down by the Cathedral, and it must have been very old then as the furniture was settles and dressers and the only way to go upstairs to the bedroom, was via a ladder. There was also a cupboard bed built into a wall? This brothers name was Daniel and he had a son called Dai who married a girl called Sally. They had 2 children Rosemary and Colin. Colin dies in a hospital near Cardiff, Rhydlaver, at about 21yrs. The cottage down by the cathedral was still there in 1952, but isnt there now.If anyone who knows of any relatives of this family please contact me at dianne.surrey@freenet.co.uk
