Looking for information on the MARPOLE name. My grandfather, John Evans Marpole, was born in Llanidloes on May 8, 1879. He emigrated to Canada in 1905. He was the son and oldest child of David Marpole (a saddler by trade) and Dinah Evans who were married in November 1878 in Cwmdaddwr, Radnor. My grandfather was the oldest of 7 children - Mary Eleanor (Nell), Fred, Beatrice Ann, Lilian (Lena), Margaret and Isobel. David Marpole's parents were Richard Marpole and Eleanor Evans. I believe they had at least one more son Richard, b. October 5, 1850. He also emigrated to Canada where he became a senior official with the Canadian Pacific Railway. Any information on the Marpoles of Llanidloes / Montgomeryshire most gratefully received.
