I am searching for details of an orphanage or school in Phillipstown,Ireland, where a child aged 7,
Thomas Smith was sent on the death of both parents c1840.
Also any details of a grand scheme for a canal possibly
Dublin to Tullamore in the 1850's. Where Smith brothers, christian names unknown, invested all their wealth from jue mills in Southern
India and lost heavily when the scheme was abandoned.
Thomas was born c1833 Tullamore, the youngest son . His mothers name was O'Brien.
