Searching for the parish/village for the Leighton family from Sligo Ireland to Amaranth/Mono township, near Orangeville, Ontario in the l840's. George Leighton, his brother Joseph and sisters Eliza and Jane were apparently born in 'Sligo'. I can find no official record of this claim. Their father Joseph Leighton is reported to have been born in Scotland. Can anyone help determine the origins for this family?
